Pakistan, Iran reaffirm commitment to strengthen agricultural cooperation

Abdul Hadi Mayar Islamabad Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain on Tuesday underscored the need for enhanced technical cooperation, exchange of expertise and strengthened coordination between relevant departments and research institutions Pakistan and Iran. The minister chaired a high-level meeting, which was held between Iran’s Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan to advance bilateral cooperation in agriculture and food security, said a press release. The discussions were described as constructive and forward-looking, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening economic ties between the two neighboring countries. The meeting reflected the longstanding and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, rooted in shared history, cultural affinity, and geographical proximity. Both sides expressed satisfaction on engagement between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly agriculture and food security. The Iranian Minister of Agriculture, Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote agricultural development and emphasized the value of closer cooperation in horticulture, livestock, crop management, and modern farming practices. He noted that both countries possess complementary strengths and can benefit from structured collaboration, joint initiatives, and regular institutional dialogue.
