LAHORE – Amid rising tensions over regional maritime security environment and potential disruptions to critical sea lanes, Pakistan Navy has launched Operation Muhafiz-ul-Bahr to protect country’s maritime trade and countering multidimensional threats at sea. The operation has been initiated to ensure the uninterrupted flow of Pakistan’s energy supplies and to secure the country’s vital Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs), the maritime arteries through which nearly 90 percent of the nation’s trade moves. Recognizing the strategic importance of these routes, the Pakistan Navy has intensified its operational presence to safeguard merchant shipping and maintain stability in regional waters.
