LAHORE – Pakistan Railways has announced a significant number of job vacancies, marking another recruitment drive of 2026, aimed at enhancing its operations. Reports indicate that the railways is currently facing a shortage of both technical and commercial staff, which has impacted the efficiency of train operations. To address these challenges, the department has decided to fill these critical positions to ensure smoother and more reliable services for passengers. Railway Jobs 2026 Railways authorities said 74 train guards will be recruited to improve management and operations matters. The appointments will be made across seven divisions of Pakistan Railways. Age Limit It has fixed maximum age at 25 years for interested applicants for the 14-grade post. Further details are yet to be shared by the Pakistan Railways. Meanwhile, the issue of ticketless travel by trains remains rampant, leading to significant financial losses. Reports said the trend of traveling without tickets is increasing, especially on trains operating between nearby cities. This has been a major contributing factor to the financial strain on several trains. In the first 15 days of this month alone, Pakistan Railways teams from the Lahore Division apprehended 1,829 ticketless travelers. These passengers were fined and asked to pay the fare, leading to a total collection of over 2.4 million rupees in fines and fares. However, despite measures taken by the Commercial Department and Railway Police, the actions have not been effective enough to curb the issue, leaving Pakistan Railways still grappling with financial losses.
