Renowned Pakistani boxer Usman Wazir will take on India’s Mahesh in his next 18th professional bout, scheduled for February 28, 2026. Speaking ahead of the bout, Wazir said his primary goal is to maintain his unbeaten record as he prepares to step into the ring for his 18th professional contest. The national boxer also appealed to the nation for prayers and support, expressing confidence in securing a victory against his Indian opponent. He credited his coaching staff and support team for an intense training program aimed at helping him secure another victory and extend his winning streak to 18 consecutive bouts. Hailing from Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, Wazeer’s journey in sports began with football before he transitioned to boxing in 2015. His early success included winning the Islamabad championship and securing a gold medal at the 2017 HEC All-Pakistan Championship. His rising profile later attracted British-Pakistani boxing star Amir Khan, who invited him to train at his academy in Islamabad. Since turning professional in 2019, Wazeer has claimed several regional and international titles, including the WBC Middle East, WBO World Youth, and WBA Asia Welterweight belts. His victories have come against fighters from countries such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, Tanzania, and Malaysia. Calling the upcoming fight a moment of national pride, Wazeer said his goal is to refine his performance, address past weaknesses and once again make history for Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan on the global boxing stage.
