Pakistan seeks to boost brotherly ties with BNP-led Bangladesh

2026-02-13 - 12:56

Congratulating the Bangladesh National Party on its historic election victory, top Pakistani leadership has sought to further improve relations with the brotherly state. Pakistan’s relations with Bangladesh improved considerably following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina in a successful generation Z led revolution in 2024. With the gradual improvement in trade relations, Pakistan supported Bangladesh during a standoff with India following the expulsion of star pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League. To express solidarity with Bangladesh, Pakistan refused to play the February 15 match of the T20 World Cup against India. Later, Pakistan withdrew the boycott decision at the request of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. President Asif Ali Zardari felicitated Tarique Rahman on BNP’s landslide victory and congratulated the people of Bangladesh on their successful, peaceful polls. 🇵🇰🇧🇩 President Asif Ali Zardari felicitates Tarique Rahman on BNP’s landslide victory and congratulates the people of Bangladesh on their successful, peaceful polls.
