Pakistan Showcases Rich Cultural Heritage in Cadiz Exhibition

An exhibition titled “Pakistan: A Culture to Discover ̈ in the El Claustro de Exposiciones Del Palacio Provincial of Cadiz was inaugurated by the First Vice President of the Cádiz Provincial Council, Juancho Ortiz, the Councillor for Culture of the city of Cadiz, VanesaBeltrán and Ambassador of Pakistan to Spain, Dr. Zahoor Ahmed. The exhibition has been organised by the Embassy of Pakistan in Madrid, in collaboration with the Cádiz Provincial Council and will continue from 17th February to 13th March 2026. The event also celebrated the accomplished Pakistani flamenco singer Aziz Baloch who was part of the Andoura of the legendary flamenco artist PepeMerchena. Aziz Baloch, a musician from Sindh in Pakistan came to Spain in the early 1900s to study flamenco music, performed in Spain as a flamenco singer under the stage name “Marchenita” in the thirties up to the sixties. Dr. Guillermo Boto, a renowned historian of flamenco and President of the Chair of Flamencology of Cádiz, gave a talk on Aziz Baloch. A special flamenco performance by the guitarist Juan Manuel Muñoz, known as El Titi; singer Juan Francisco Rodríguez, known as El Cañejo; and dancer Paula Yinet Hernández inspired by the work of Aziz Baloch was also presented. Vice President of the Provincial Council, Juancho Ortiz welcomed the guests and drew parallels between Pakistan and the province of Cádiz. He noted that Pakistani culture, much like that of Cádiz, “has developed at a crossroads, shaped by exchange and dialogue between civilizations.” He called Pakistan the land of cultural and commercial exchange throughout the centuries and stressed that the Provincial Council firmly believes culture is a powerful tool for fostering understanding and coexistence. Ambassador Zahoor Ahmed expressed his gratitude for the collaboration and emphasized the importance of such exhibits to enhance travel, cultural artistic and business connections between Pakistan and Spain. He emphasized the potential to collaborate between Spain and Pakistan on AI, heritage conservation, digitalization and sustainable tourism. The exhibition, open to the public from 17th February to 13th March 2026, offers a vibrant visual journey through Pakistan’s diverse cultural traditions, natural landscapes, historical sites, and everyday life.—PR
