Pakistan Women thrashed United Arab Emirates Women by nine wickets in Bangkok on Tuesday to reach the Semis of Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars. From Group A, India, Pakistan and the UAE finished with four points each. But India and Pakistan qualified for the semis due to a better net run rate. Chasing a modest 79-run target, Pakistan A Women crossed the finish line with nine wickets and 54 balls remaining. Opener Shawaal Zulfiqar was the top scorer with an unbeaten 38 off just 31 balls, laced with five fours and one maximum. Huraina Sajjad contributed an unbeaten 26 off 19 balls, with the help of five boundaries, and opener Eman Naseer contributed 12 off 16 balls. Heena Hotchandani bagged one wicket. Batting first, UAE Women kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 79 in 17.2 overs. Wicketkeeper batter Theertha Satish was the UAE Women’s highest scorer, making 32 off 27, hitting five boundaries. Rinitha Rajith contributed 14 off 19 balls with the help of two boundaries. No other batter could enter the double figures. Player of the match Anoosha Nasir grabbed three wickets and skipper Hafsa Khalid two, while Waheeda Akhtar, Omaima Sohail, Momina Riasat and Gul Rukh took one wicket each.
