ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s security forces have successfully thwarted multiple attempts by militants linked to Afghan Taliban-supported group “Fitna al-Khawarij” to carry out drone attacks across several regions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar said the terrorists attempted to target Abbottabad, Swabi, and Nowshera using small drones. He said Pakistan’s anti-drone defense systems swiftly detected and neutralized all incoming drones, ensuring that no casualties were reported in any of the incidents. The thwarted drone strikes serve as a stark reminder of the continuing threats posed by militant groups with links to the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, the minister stated. Furthermore, in a separate incident in Swabi’s Pabini village, an explosion occurred outside the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, injuring a student. Reports revealed that the blast was allegedly caused by explosive materials dropped by a drone. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and authorities are working to uncover further details regarding the attack.
