ISLAMABAD – Pakistanis continue to face botched services from telecom companies like deduction of balance and non-activation of packages, and in recent developments, a furious customer approached Consumer Court East, accusing the company of blatant negligence, financial harm, and complete disregard for consumer rights. According to court documents, the complainant purchased a weekly mobile package through JazzCash app, only to be shocked when Rs823 was instantly deducted from his account while the promised package was never activated. The sudden loss of connectivity reportedly struck at a critical moment, leaving him unable to communicate with clients and allegedly triggering serious business disruption and financial loss. The consumer claims the ordeal did not end there. Despite repeated visits to the company’s regional office and the dispatch of a formal legal notice, he says the company failed to offer any meaningful response or resolution. Feeling ignored and powerless, he ultimately turned to the courts. The petitioner is seeking Rs2 million in damages. He argues that the issue goes far beyond a failed mobile package, citing emotional distress, loss of business credibility, shattered trust in digital payment systems, and alarming concerns over the security of his digital account. After initial hearing, the Consumer Court has issued an official notice to the company, directing it to submit a written explanation—instantly catapulting the case into the spotlight as a high-profile consumer rights battle. The case comes amid wave of online complaints from users who report unexplained balance deductions, failed service activations, and ineffective customer support linked to the same fintech platform. As public anger grows louder, the lawsuit is intensifying calls for tighter oversight, stronger accountability, and urgent reforms in Pakistan’s rapidly expanding digital payments ecosystem.
