According to the Petroleum Division, diesel will now cost Rs. 268.38 per liter, up Rs. 11.30 from the previous rate of Rs. 257.08—sending shockwaves through industries that rely on fuel for transportation and production. While petrol prices remain steady at Rs. 253.17 per liter, offering a small reprieve to everyday motorists, the diesel surge is expected to ripple across the economy, raising transportation costs and fuelling inflation concerns nationwide. The official notification confirms that these new rates take effect from February 1, impacting consumers and commercial sectors alike. According to an official notification from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), LPG has become Rs. 6.37 per kilogram more expensive, bringing the new rate to Rs. 184.79 per kilogram. As a result, the price of a standard 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has increased by Rs. 75.21, now costing Rs. 2,667.40. The revision takes effect immediately, impacting households nationwide.
