PM Shehbaz to meet Opposition Leader Achakzai for talks, confirms Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to meet with Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, with discussions on the meeting’s details ongoing, confirmed Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs. In an interview with a private TV channel, Rana Sanaullah stated that while the meeting has been scheduled, the specific date, time and location are yet to be finalized. He mentioned that both sides are in constant communication and that further details are expected to be finalized soon. Rana Sanaullah added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is open to various options for the meeting, including hosting the meeting himself, and that it could potentially take place at the Parliament House. He also noted that if there are concerns that holding the meeting before February 8 could affect the political standing of the Opposition Leader, the meeting could be postponed to a later date. In a related development, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, who is a member of opposition leader, announced that the opposition has agreed to the government’s invitation for negotiations. He explained that the prime minister extended the offer for talks during a cabinet meeting, which led to detailed consultations within the opposition. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar confirmed that the opposition has decided to accept the Prime Minister’s invitation for negotiations unconditionally.
