GUJRANWALA – A domestic worker allegedly fled with cash and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees from the house of a cousin of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khurram Dastagir Khan in the Satellite Town area of Gujranwala, police said on Tuesday. The First Information Report (FIR) said that the housemaid made off with Rs700,000 in cash and gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs2.4 million. The incident took place inside a private residence, causing significant financial loss to the homeowners. The police officials confirmed that the theft occurred at the house of Atif Sabir Khan, a cousin of Khurram Dastgir Khan, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Upon discovering the theft, the affected family approached the local police station, after which a case was formally registered against the domestic worker. Authorities said an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to trace and arrest the suspect. The police sources added that CCTV footage from nearby houses and streets is being examined while raids are being conducted at possible hideouts to recover the stolen cash and jewellery. The incidents involving domestic workers have raised concerns among residents about the need for proper background verification before employment. The law enforcement authorities urged the citizens to ensure complete documentation and registration of household staff with the local police to help prevent such occurrences.
