Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has been revitalized in Punjab, emphasizing that the party is united like a family and committed to strengthening its roots across the province. He expressed these views while addressing party workers at the Johar Town office in Lahore after participating in a large rally organized by the PPP Lahore Division from Thokar Niaz Baig to Johar Town. Hundreds of workers attended the rally, warmly welcoming the Governor with flower petals, drum beats, bhangra performances, and a traditional horse dance. The Governor stated that the party’s revival in Lahore would translate into strength throughout Punjab. Referring to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he said he should become Prime Minister not merely because of his position, but due to his vision, courage, and political struggle. “When the heir of the martyrs leads the country, laborers and farmers will prosper,” he remarked. He praised PPP Lahore President Faisal Mir and senior party leader Majeed Ghauri for their efforts in reorganizing and energizing the party in a short span of time. He noted that the previous party organization also upheld the party flag during challenging times and appreciated that former office-bearers are now supporting the new leadership. He described Faisal Mir as fortunate to have such committed support. Calling himself a worker of the PPP, the Governor said he understands the sentiments of party members and remains accessible to them. “Life and death are in the hands of Allah. I cannot ignore the voice of the workers. Whenever you call, I will come to you,” he assured. He urged party workers to respond responsibly and effectively on social media while maintaining decorum, stressing that no one should engage in abusive language. He expressed confidence that the party would achieve significant success in Lahore if strong organizational structures are established at the Union Council level. Faisal Mir announced plans to appoint 22,950 office-bearers in Lahore under the leadership of the Governor. He also revealed that grand rallies would be held at Liberty Chowk on March 29 to mark the anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 14. Mir further urged the Punjab government to fulfill Asif Ali Zardari’s longstanding demand of supplying water from the Ravi River to Lahore’s residents. He praised Governor Saleem Haider as a leader who remains among the workers and has worked tirelessly to strengthen the PPP at the grassroots level across Punjab.
