ISLAMABAD – One of most dramatic and high-stakes moments in Pakistan Super League history, the management rights of PSL franchise Multan Sultans have officially been sold for a staggering Rs 2.45 billion (Rs 245 crore) after a nail-biting auction held at the Expo Centre, Lahore. The auction started with base price of Rs 182 crore, but within minutes turned into an explosive multi-billion-rupee showdown involving some of the country’s biggest corporate players. CD Ventures opened the contest with Rs 183 crore. Wali Technologies countered with Rs 190 crore. CD Ventures raised it to Rs 191 crore. The bidding crossed Rs 205 crore, then Rs 206 crore. At this tense stage, M Next took a timeout and later exited the race. The auction then crossed into billion-rupee territory Wali Technologies bid Rs 2.07 billion. Particle Igniters & Ventures entered aggressively with Rs 2.14 billion. CD Ventures responded with Rs 2.15 billion. Particle Igniters raised it to Rs 2.18 billion. CD Ventures pushed to Rs 2.19 billion. Wali Technologies fired back with Rs2.20 billion. Particle Igniters shocked everyone with Rs 2.25 billion. CD Ventures countered with Rs 2.26 billion. After a five-minute timeout, the final blow came. Wali Technologies stunned all competitors by jumping straight to Rs 2.45 BILLION. The hammer fell. Multan Sultans were officially SOLD. Wali Technologies announced a new identity for the franchise. Multan Sultans will now be renamed “RAWALPINDI” The historic auction witnessed the presence of major cricket and administrative figures including former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, legendary cricketer Zaheer Abbas, Mohsin Naqvi. Sameen Rana and Atif Rana, owners of Lahore Qalandars. The auction was triggered after former owner Ali Tareen refused to renew the 10-year ownership agreement, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to put the franchise up for sale.
