KARACHI – The controversy erupted over the newly added Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Sialkot Stallions, as disputes over ownership and shareholding surfaced ahead of PSL Season 11 2026, the latest reports suggested on Wednesday. Mohammad Shahid, claiming to be the legal owner of 76 percent of the franchise shares, alleged that his co-partner Hamza Majeed, who holds 24 percent, is attempting to sell additional shares without his consent. Shahid said he has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of the situation and reserves the right to take legal action. In a video statement from Australia, Shahid stated that Majeed is allegedly trying to sell Shahid’s shares at higher prices for personal gain. Shahid, who recently returned to Pakistan after 27 years, said he intended to make significant investments in the country and contribute to its development. He added that his lawyers are closely reviewing Majeed’s actions and will pursue legal recourse if necessary. The Sialkot Stallions franchise was acquired by OZ Developers during the PCB auction held in Islamabad on January 8, 2026, for PKR 1.85 billion (approximately USD 6.5 million). The team is scheduled to participate in PSL Season 11 from March 23 to May 3, 2026. Former Pakistan captain and legendary all-rounder Wasim Akram has been appointed as the team president, while former Test fast bowler Sohail Tanvir will serve as bowling coach. The franchise also secured Australian cricketer Steve Smith through direct bidding for PKR 14 crore. Other notable players include Mohammad Nawaz (Rs6.16 crore), Salman Mirza (Rs3.94 crore), Ahmed Danial (Rs2.24 crore), Saad Masood (Rs84 lakh), Sahibzada Farhan (Rs6.16 crore), Ashton Turner (Rs4.2 crore), Peter Siddle (Rs2.5 crore), and Tabriz Shamsi (Rs2.2 crore). Additionally, Jahanzaib Sultan, Lashen Shah, and Diano Potgieter were acquired for Rs60 lakh each. The dispute over shareholding comes at a critical time as the franchise prepares for its PSL debut, highlighting challenges in management and ownership ahead of the tournament.
