LAHORE – The Punjab government has announced the suspension of morning assemblies in schools across the Punjab until further notice in response to rising security concerns amid potential protests against attack in Iran. The decision was communicated through an official notification issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) for Secondary Education, Punjab. The directive also outlined several important security measures to be implemented in all public and private schools in the province. These include making functional the CCTV cameras installed in schools and ensuring their continuous monitoring. Additionally, all teaching staff are required to download the Punjab Safe City app on their Android phones to report emergencies immediately. To further enhance security, school gates will remain closed during operational hours, with strict restrictions on the entry of unauthorized individuals. Furthermore, schools are instructed to conduct emergency drills and ensure both students and staff are fully aware of the exit points. The DPI also issued a directive to prevent high school students from participating in any protests. Daily reports, including photos, will be submitted to the relevant authorities to monitor the implementation of these security measures.
