Punjab Police, NADRA ink landmark pact to power high-tech crime control

In a major step toward modernizing law enforcement, Punjab Police and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) signed a historic information-sharing agreement at the Central Police Office, Lahore, aimed at strengthening crime control and enhancing community policing through advanced technological integration. The ceremony was attended by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, as Chief Guest. Rehman Qamar, Chief Project Officer at NADRA Directorate Headquarters, participated along with his team. The agreement was formally signed by DIG Information Technology Mansoor-ul-Haq Rana and Rehman Qamar on behalft of their respective institutions. Furthermore, under the agreement, NADRA will provide Punjab Police access to a range of advanced services, including fingerprint matching, biometric verification, CNIC record verification, family tree data, Family Registration Certificate (FRC) verification, and other identity management solutions. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, these tools will significantly enhance efforts to apprehend criminals, curb anti-social elements, improve investigative efficiency, and strengthen community policing initiatives. The integration of biometric and identity services is also expected to improve overall public service delivery. DIG IT Mansoor-ul-Haq Rana delivered a comprehensive briefing on the operational advantages of NADRA’s technological support, emphasizing that the adoption of modern systems will lead to measurable improvements in the quality, speed, and transparency of policing across the province. Moreover, Inspector General Abdul Kareem commended NADRA’s collaboration and technical assistance, describing the agreement as a milestone in the journey toward safer communities and more responsive policing. He noted that leveraging technology-driven solutions is essential for effective crime prevention and public trust. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Rehman Qamar presented commemorative souvenirs to the Inspector General and DIG IT. Senior officers, including DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana and DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan, were also in attendance. The agreement marks a forward-looking partnership focused on innovation, efficiency, and public safety—laying the groundwork for a more secure and technologically empowered Punjab.
