Punjab receives 16,000 applications for Global IT Certifications

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has received around 16,000 applications since September 2024 under its Global IT Certifications Program. The initiative aimed at facilitating internationally recognised certifications for youth. This was highlighted during a progress review meeting presided over by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf. PITB Director General e-Governance Sajid Latif, Director Skills Development Wing Chaudhry Ahmed Islam, and other senior officials attended the meeting. During the briefing, it was revealed that the eligibility of over 8,500 candidates has been verified through the PITB-developed portal so far. Payment verification of 511 candidates has been completed, while the fee reimbursement process is underway after verification of 401 certifications. Furthermore, 273 successful candidates who completed their certifications have already received full reimbursement of their certification fee directly into their bank accounts. Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Yousaf stated, “The primary objective of the Global IT Certifications Program is to equip youth with internationally recognised digital skills and enhance their employability in the global market.” He further added that in light of the overwhelming response from youth and the evolving needs of the industry, the scope of the program has been expanded to offer more than 120 globally recognised certifications.
