Punjab releases Rs235 million in pending family pension cases

Punjab government released Rs235 million in pending family pension cases, including the payment of Rs5 million to a widow belonging to Pakpattan. According to the Ombudsman Punjab spokesman, a woman approached the regional office of the Ombudsman Punjab in Pakpattan, stating that after the death of her husband, the District Food Authority, Sahiwal, had failed to release her family pension, causing her severe financial hardships. After receiving the complaint, the Pakpattan office took up the matter with the relevant authorities and actively pursued the case. Following an order issued by the Ombudsman of Punjab, an amount of Rs. 5 million was released to the complainant, providing her with financial relief. The spokesman said that Ombudsman Punjab’s interventions in family pension cases across the province resulted in the cumulative disbursement of Rs235 million to the complainants. The complainants thanked the Ombudsman Punjab for timely action and effective redressal of their grievances, appreciating the institution’s role in ensuring transparency and accountability.
