Punjab warns citizens not to give Zakat to TLP, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, and other Banned Outfits

LAHORE – Punjab Home Department warned citizens, not to fund banned organizations and unregistered charitable institutions. Authorities stressed that providing any financial support to these organizations is a criminal offense under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. A spokesperson for the Home Department warned that citizens must not give zakat, donations, or charity to unregistered or banned organizations. Individuals who aid groups involved in terrorism or anti-state activities will face severe legal consequences. Punjab’s statement made it clear that registration with the Punjab Charity Commission is mandatory for all welfare and charitable organizations operating in the province. Citizens are urged to donate only to registered organizations, ensuring their contributions reach deserving individuals, not terrorists. Verification of registered organizations can be done through the QR code on their certificate. Citizens are urged to report any attempts by banned organizations to collect funds via the toll-free number 0800-11111 or helpline 042-99213871. For verification of registered charities, donations can be confirmed 24/7 via WhatsApp at 0313-4995564 of the Punjab Charity Commission. Home Department’s spokesperson made a final appeal to the public: “Be responsible citizens—immediately report any fraudulent, terrorist, or anti-state activities to the authorities. Ensure your charity saves lives, not aids terrorists.” TLP officially added to Pakistan’s proscribed entities list under Anti-Terrorism Act
