Ramadan 2026: Working hours reduced for government employees [Check New Timings]

ABU DHABI – UAE has announced the official working hours for public sector employees during the holy month of Ramadan. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced that federal ministries and agencies can either adhere to the established flexible work hours during Ramadan or allow employees to work remotely on Fridays. However, the remote workforce should not exceed 70% of the total employees in any given entity, in line with the approved guidelines, it said. New Office Working Hours for Ramadan 2026 From Monday to Thursday, the offices will observe working hours from 9am to 2.30pm, while on Fridays, they will be from 9am to 12:00pm. Ramadan 2026 Start Date in UAE The holy month of Ramadan 2026 is likely to start from February 19 in the UAE, according to Abu Dhabi-based International Astronomical Centre. An official said that the sighting of the moon on Feb 17 night is either impossible or highly improbable. However, the final decision will be taken by moon-sighting committees who will convene on the 29th day of Shaban to determine the start of the Ramadan 2026. The public sector offices used to observe eight-hour day from Monday to Thursday during the months other than Ramadan 2026.
