Rawalpindi to Murree Glass Train: Stations, ticket prices, timeline

RAWALPINDI – In line with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ambitious Vision Transport 2030, the provincial government has paced up efforts to launch Rawalpindi-Murree Tourist Glass Train. The state-of-the-art, 40-kilometer elevated rail system, will offer both modern infrastructure and breathtaking scenic views. The train will feature panoramic glass coaches, providing passengers with uninterrupted views of the picturesque landscapes along the route. Tourist Glass Train Stations The service will connect key tourist destinations, with four modern stations planned between Rawalpindi and Murree, including the newly proposed stations at Ghora Gali, Chattar Park, and Lake View Station. Murree-Rawalpindi Glass Train Ticket Prices With a daily passenger capacity of over 11,700 people, the train will run in eight sets of four panoramic glass cars. The standard fare for a ride will be Rs400 per passenger, while a premium option will be available for Rs 1,000. Project Cost The project, estimated to cost Rs11.78 billion, aims to make the region more accessible to tourists while significantly improving local transport. The provincial government has already received approval for the PC-I of the project in November 2025. The Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) procurement process is scheduled to begin in December 2025, with the bid submission date set for March 2026. Project Completion Days The project is expected to be completed within 28 months. This ambitious mobility initiative is expected to transform tourism in the region under the supervision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
