LAHORE – The rescue operation continued in Lahore’s Outfall Road, Bhatti Gate and Mohni Road areas after a 10-month-old girl Rida Fatima fell into a sewer hole hours ago in the provincial capital. Despite extensive efforts, the authorities have yet to locate the missing child. According to Rescue 1122, the body of the woman involved in the incident was found six hours later from the sewer line at Outfall Road. However, there is still no trace of her daughter Rida. Rescue officials confirmed that the operation is being conducted at three separate locations, with 10 rescue vehicles and 25 personnel involved in the ongoing search. Earlier reports revealed that the woman and her daughter had fallen into the sewerhole near Bhatti Gate, with the husband notifying authorities about the incident. Rescue teams arrived quickly, but before the search could conclude, local administration had prematurely issued a statement declaring the drowning as a “fake” report, causing confusion. Rescue sources had initially denied the possibility of drowning in the sewerhole, stating it was technically impossible for a human to drown in such conditions. However, following the discovery of the woman’s body, the search for the missing child continues. In the meantime, Lahore’s administration claimed to have inspected the sewer line and reported no accidents. Local police also initiated an investigation, revealing an alleged conflict between the husband and wife. They briefly detained three individuals, including the husband, based on suspicion and serious accusations. However, they later clarified that no one had been formally arrested in connection with the case.
