COLOMBO – Pakistan posted a commanding total of 199/3 against Namibia in a crucial ICC T20 World Cup match, thanks to a brilliant century by Sahibzada Farhan, setting Namibia a target of 200 runs for victory. Pakistan’s innings got off to a solid start with openers Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub, but Saim was dismissed for 14 when the team total reached 40. National captain Salman Ali Agha scored 38 runs off 23 balls before losing his wicket, while Khawaja Nafees contributed 5 runs. Sahibzada Farhan, however, dominated the innings, scoring his first T20 World Cup century off 57 balls, including 4 sixes and 10 fours, remaining unbeaten at 100. All-rounder Shadab Khan added a valuable 36 runs. For Namibia, Jack Bresell took 2 wickets and Gerhard Erasmus claimed 1. Earlier, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and elected to bat first. The team also made two changes, bringing in Mirza Salman and Khawaja Nafees in place of Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed. The match is pivotal for Pakistan’s progression to the Super 8 stage. A win today ensures qualification, while a washout due to rain would also see Pakistan advance. However, a loss to Namibia could allow the USA, with a superior net run rate, to secure a spot in the next round.
