Saudi Crown Prince to visit Pakistan soon amid soaring Economic, Defense Ties

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are set to take their relationship to an unprecedented level, with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expected to visit Pakistan in the near future, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Farooq, has announced. Speaking at Pakistani Embassy in Kingdom, Ambassador Farooq revealed that both nations are rapidly expanding cooperation in defense and multiple other sectors. “Pakistan–Saudi defense agreement has added a groundbreaking dimension to our bilateral ties, and its positive impact is already being felt in Pakistan’s economy,” he said. The envoy highlighted that historic agreements are in works across eight key sectors, including information technology, agriculture, and textiles, signaling a massive leap in economic collaboration. Pakistani exports to KSA hit record highs, and in remarkable labor movement, 5Lac Pakistani workers arrived in Kingdom during 2025. As of now, 30Lac Pakistanis are employed across Saudi Arabia, further strengthening the deep-rooted bonds between the two countries. With these monumental developments, the Pakistan–Saudi partnership is entering a new era of strategic and economic significance. Islamabad and Riyadh inked Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA), formalizing long-standing military relationship. Under pact, an attack on either country is considered an attack on both, and the agreement covers joint military exercises, intelligence sharing, training, and broader defence cooperation. The deal strengthens Saudi Arabia’s security amid regional instability and reinforces Pakistan’s role as a strategic partner in the Muslim world. While nuclear weapons are not officially included, the pact has sparked speculation about deeper strategic implications. The agreement shows shifting regional dynamics, with Gulf states seeking diversified security partnerships beyond traditional Western alliances.
