SECP registers 3,444 new companies with 44 backed by Chinese investors

ISLAMABAD – The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has reported a continued rise in new company registrations, signaling increased economic activity in the country. In February, 3,444 new companies were registered, bringing the total number of registered companies in Pakistan to 287,049. Among these, 82 companies include foreign participation, with China contributing 44 companies. Investors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and other countries also participated. Foreign investors primarily registered companies in the mining, trading, and IT sectors. By region, 1,696 new companies were registered in Punjab, 656 in Islamabad, and 555 in Sindh. Sector-wise, 723 companies were established in IT and e-commerce, 531 in trading, 434 in services, and 323 in real estate. Additional registrations were recorded in mining, textiles, education, health, sports equipment, cables, and electrical goods sectors. The SECP said the continued growth in registrations reflects strong investor confidence and a boost in economic activity across multiple industries in Pakistan.
