Shab-e-Barat 2026: School Holiday announced for February 4

KARACHI – Good news for students and parents as Sindh School Education Department declared holiday in all educational institutions on 15th Shaban 1447, corresponding to Wednesday, 4th February 2026, for Shab-e-Barat. A notification confirmed that the holiday will apply to both government and private schools, allowing students a day off to pray accordingly. According to official notification issued by School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh. It said “In pursuance of the decision taken in the Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education, held on 28th November 2024, all public and private educational institutions under the administrative control of the department shall remain closed on Wednesday, 4th February 2026 on account of Shab-e-Barat (15th Sha’ban 1447).” Shab-e-Barat, marked for spiritual significance, sees millions of Muslims across Pakistan and world engaging in prayer and reflection. On 14th Shaban, worshippers are expected to offer the Salat al-Tasbeeh, a highly revered prayer performed in mosques on this special night. With holiday officially announced, Muslims are preparing to mark the occasion with religious fervor, while students are rejoicing at the unexpected break from school routines.
