On celebrated between 14th and 15th of Sha’ban, this holy night holds immense significance in Islamic traditions, as it is believed that Allah decides people’s destiny, sustenance, and lifespan. This year, the month of Sha’ban started on January 21, 2026, as announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, confirming that Shab-e-Barat falls on Thursday. Mosques and public spaces across Pakistan will host special Quranic gatherings, seminars, and devotional assemblies, allowing Muslims to spend the night in prayer and seek Allah’s mercy and blessings for a prosperous life. While last year Sindh government announced holiday for schools and educational institutions, this year no official decision has been made yet. The holiday, which was initially expected on Friday, February 4, remains uncertain, and authorities have promised to issue an official notification if a decision is taken. Muslims across Pakistan are now preparing for a night of prayer, reflection, and divine hope, as the country awaits one of the most spiritually significant nights of the Islamic calendar. On Shab-e-Barat, Muslims spend night in prayer, Quran recitation, and personal reflection, seeking Allah’s mercy and forgiveness. Many offer special prayers for deceased loved ones, give charity, and perform good deeds, as it is believed that blessings and forgiveness are abundant on this night. Some also observe voluntary fast the following day. Overall, the night is devoted to spiritual renewal, repentance, and heartfelt supplication, making it one of the most significant nights in the Islamic calendar.
