Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul among 47 others sentenced to 10 years in jail in GHQ attack case

RAWALPINDI – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday handed down 10-year prison sentences to 47 proclaimed offenders in the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ). ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah announced the verdict, ordering each convict to pay a fine of Rs500,000 and directing the confiscation of their properties. Those convicted include prominent political figures and leaders: Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Murad Saeed, Shibli Faraz, Hammad Azhar, Kanwal Shauzab, and Rashid Shafique. Additional convicts include Shehbaz Gill, Zulfi Bukhari, Muhammad Ahmed Chattha, Rai Hassan Nawaz, and Rai Muhammad Murtaza. The court also sentenced Shaukat Ali Bhatti, Usman Saeed Basra, and Ejaz Khan Jazi to prison terms and fines in the same case.
