2026-01-26 - 15:19

The three-day Made in Pakistan – SME Cluster Showcase Expo 2026 concluded at Lahore’s Expo Centre with robust participation of the general public and meaningful business linkages. The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) organised the event in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of inclusive economic growth. One of the highlights of the last day was an Inception Workshop on “Banana in Pakistan’s Bioeconomy: Transforming Waste into Textiles”. In her concluding remarks, CEO SMEDA Nadia Jahangir Seth said the flagship “Made in Pakistan Cluster Showcase 2026” marks a defining moment for Pakistan’s MSMEs. “It provided a platform to the country’s innovative and enterprising MSMEs to display their products, exchange knowledge and insights, get visibility, and develop business linkages to scale and become export-ready,” she said. She emphasised that the maiden event is a true reflection of the Government of Pakistan’s vision. It is heartening to note, she said, that young and energetic entrepreneurs from all over Pakistan showed up, as did women entrepreneurs and microenterprises who form the backbone of the national economy. Ms Seth commended the stakeholders and all those who contributed to the success of the landmark event. She said SMEDA was entrusted with the task, and its team put up a unified response to deliver. She especially thanked event sponsors – HBL, Bank Al Habib, Bank of Punjab and Pak Suzuki Motors – for their support and insightful interaction with the public. The CEO of SMEDA said this is going to be an annual feature, and SMEDA would conduct follow-up activities to translate commitments and takeaways into valuable business growth of the MSMEs.
