South Africa thrashed India by a huge margin of 76 runs in the Group-I Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening. Chasing a competitive 188-run target for victory, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals right from the start and were bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs. Shivam Dube was the top scorer for the men in blue with 42 off 37 balls, hitting one four and three maximums. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya made 18 runs each, opener Abhishek Sharma 15, and Washington Sundar 11 off 11 balls. No other batter could enter the double figures. Marco Jansen bagged four wickets, Keshav Maharaj three and Corbin Bosch two, while skipper Aiden Markram took one wicket. Opting to bat first, South Africa put a decent 187/7 on the board, despite losing three wickets within the powerplay. Player of the match David Miller was the top scorer for Proteas with 63 off 35 balls, laced with seven fours and three maximums. Dewald Brevis made 45 off 29 balls, hitting three fours and as many sixes. Tristan Stubbs contributed a valuable 44 off 24 balls with the help of one four and three maximums to help his side set a competitive target on a slow surface.
