Stamp paper fees for property sale, others hiked massively [Check New Rates]

ISLAMABAD – The federal government has announced a significant increase in the fees for various types of stamp papers, including legal, educational, utility connections and property-related transactions. Citizens are required to submit stamp papers while applying for various legal cases, including divorce or Khula. These are also used to submit an affidavit for electricity or water connections. Stamp Paper New Rates The cost of the minimum e-stamp paper has been raised from Rs100 to Rs300. The divorce stamp paper fee has seen the most significant jump, going from Rs100 to Rs1,000. Additionally, the stamp paper fee for domicile certificates—required for school admissions and job applications—has risen from Rs100 to Rs500. The new connection fees for utilities such as electricity, gas, and water have also seen a sharp increase, with the cost of the relevant stamp paper now set at Rs1,000 instead of the previous Rs100. One of the most notable hikes is for the property sales agreement e-stamp paper, which has surged from Rs1,200 to Rs3,000. Furthermore, the stamp paper fee for agreements unrelated to property transactions has been increased from Rs100 to Rs500. The new stamp fees for contracts are as follows: For agreements up to Rs500,000, the fee has increased from Rs1,200 to Rs3,000. For agreements ranging from Rs500,000 to Rs1 million, the fee has been raised to Rs6,000. For agreements involving amounts over Rs15 million, the stamp paper fee has increased by Rs20,000. Moreover, the Power of Attorney e-stamp paper fee has also increased from Rs1,500 to Rs1,800. In a further measure to modernize the process, it is now mandatory for applicants to provide a mobile phone SIM registered in their name for obtaining any e-stamp paper. These fee hikes have sparked concerns among the public, particularly in terms of increased costs for essential legal documentation and property transactions.
