Suicide of MBBS Student: FJMU suspends classes, postpones exams

Fatima Jinnah Medical University has suspended educational activities at the campus and examinations following the suicide of a student yesterday. Ms Fareeha Afrahim, 22, a student of MBBS, committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of FJMU yesterday. Fearing protests from students, the FJMU has postponed all educational activities, including the scheduled examinations. “The undergraduate classes (MBBS Program) of Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore, will remain off w.e.f. 18th to 24th February 2026 due to the sad demise of Ms Fareeha Afrahim, Student of FJMC”, reads a notification issued by the FJMC Principal. “It is hereby notified that all the Examinations (Theory & Practical) notified by Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) shall stand postponed with immediate effect due to the sad demise of Ms Fareeha Afrahim, a student of Fatima Jinnah Medical College (FJMC) Lahore. The new dates of Examinations will be communicated later”, reads a separate notification issued by the FJMU Registrar.
