ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Customs joined global Customs community today in celebrating International Customs Day, under this year’s theme, “Customs protecting society through vigilance and commitment.” The day highlights the critical role Customs administrations play in safeguarding national borders while facilitating legitimate trade. On the occasion, Member Customs-Operations, Syed Shakeel Shah, emphasized that Pakistan Customs is dedicated to protecting public health, preserving the environment, and ensuring supply chain integrity, all while supporting sustainable economic growth. “In an increasingly interconnected world, the vigilance and commitment of Customs administrations are more vital than ever,” he said. Shah highlighted Pakistan Customs’ adoption of intelligence-led enforcement, advanced risk management systems, and modern technologies to address cross-border threats effectively. The Federal Board of Revenue’s Transformation Plan demonstrates the organization’s commitment to creating a secure, transparent, and efficient trade environment through technology-driven solutions. Beyond revenue collection and trade facilitation, Pakistan Customs has actively tackled emerging threats, including illegal trade in hazardous waste, ozone-depleting substances, and other environmentally sensitive goods. These initiatives reflect Pakistan Customs’ commitment to public safety, environmental protection, and sustainable development in collaboration with national and international partners. Shah expressed gratitude to international partners for their ongoing support and reaffirmed Pakistan Customs’ commitment to strengthening global collaboration to ensure a safer, more secure, and prosperous world.
