ATHENS – Israeli espionage thriller series Tehran producer Dana Eden was found dead in a hotel room in Athens, Greece, where filming for the show’s fourth season was under way, the Greek authorities confirmed. The police officials in Athens said that the 52-year-old producer was discovered in her hotel room on Sunday. Initial assessments showed that the death appears to be a suicide, though a full investigation has been launched and final conclusions would depend on official findings, including a mandatory post-mortem examination. The police said they were alerted by Eden’s brother after repeated attempts by family members to contact her went unanswered. The officers subsequently began formal inquiries, collecting statements from hotel staff and reviewing CCTV footage as part of standard procedure. The authorities have ruled out foul play at this stage. Police spokesperson Konstantina Dimoglido stated that there were no immediate indications of criminal involvement. She added that, according to the producer’s brother, Eden had been taking medication for a medical condition and had previously been hospitalised. The investigators reportedly recovered pills from the room believed to be related to substance use. Following media reports in Israel suggesting that Greek police were examining possible foreign links, including speculation about Iran, the production company behind the hit series clarified that there was no evidence of a criminal act and described circulating rumours as unfounded. The production company through a statement expressed sorrow over Eden’s death and called it a devastating loss for her family, friends and colleagues. The company urged the public to refrain from spreading speculation and to allow the authorities to complete their investigation, so that the verified facts could emerge.
