VICTORIA – At least ten people, included a suspected assailant, were killed and 25 others injured in a mass shooting a high school in northeastern British Columbia, it was confirmed by the Canadian police. Police said six bodies were found inside the school located in Tumbler Ridge while two more were found dead at a residence, adding that one lost the life while being shifted to hospital. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said a suspected shooter was also found dead due to a self-inflicted injury. The suspect in the shooting incident could be a woman, as an official alert issued in British Columbia described the individual as a female wearing a dress with brown hair. “Multiple injuries and multiple deceased were inside the school as officers progressed through the scene,” police Superintendent Ken Floyd told a news conference. “We have the scene secured right now. We have investigators there to try to determine the nature of the extent of the injuries and what weapons may or may not have been involved,” the police officer said. “All our thoughts are with people in Tumbler Ridge. I’ve spoken to the mayor and local MLA, and we are offering the RCMP any additional assistance they need,” British Columbia’s Public Safety Minister Nina Krieger said in a statement on X.
