KARACHI – Major roads in southern port city of Karachi have been closed for traffic in view of protests against the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the US-Israeli strikes. Authorities said roads leading to and from Sultanabad Traffic Section towards Mai Kolachi have been closed as part of security measures. Similarly, both sides of the road from MT Khan Road towards Jinnah Bridge and from PIDC to Jinnah Bridge are also closed for traffic. Authorities are diverting vehicles from Jinnah Bridge to I.I. Chundrigar Road, while cars approaching from Boat Basin are being redirected at Mai Kolachi Phatak for a U-turn. Similarly, vehicles from PIDC are being sent back from Park Cut. In addition to these measures, the road leading from FTC towards Metro Pole on Shahrah-e-Faisal has been barricaded. The section near FTC has been closed since the previous day, with traffic diverted to the Saddar area via Gorakhpur cemetery. Traffic police have urged citizens to avoid these affected routes and opt for alternative paths to avoid inconvenience and potential delays.
