ISLAMABAD – The health of PTI founder Imran Khan has taken worrying turn, with reports confirming former prime minister now has only 15 percent vision in his right eye. As the issue raised by his party prompted protests, and outrage, the government formed 2-member medical panel, led by top doctors Dr. Amjad and Dr. Nadeem Qureshi, to conduct thorough eye examination. After their assessment, authorities will decide whether Khan should be moved to a specialized medical facility for further treatment. Supreme Court has intervened, instructing the federal government to ensure a full specialist evaluation by February 16. The order, issued by a bench led by Yahya Afridi, followed a report from barrister Salman Safdar, who personally observed Khan in jail. The report revealed alarming details: Khan’s vision deteriorated rapidly over the past three months, he showed visible distress, and tears were seen streaming down his face during the visit. Khan’s declining health has ignited nationwide protests, with demonstrators taking to the streets in multiple cities, while former athletes, celebrities, and political supporters voice deep concern. His sister, Alima Khan, confirmed he recently spoke with her children, and the family is urgently awaiting medical intervention. Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has dismissed rumors of any negotiations with PTI as false and denied claims of mistreatment. He emphasized that Khan enjoys access to full facilities and privileges in jail, surpassing those of other inmates, and that ophthalmology specialists will oversee his treatment. Tarar assured the public that a detailed report will be submitted to the Supreme Court and that all actions are being taken in Khan’s best interest, with additional check-ups planned to ensure full transparency.
