Tourist Weather Update: Rain, snowfall likely in coming days

Rain with snowfall is expected in Murree and Pakistan’s major tourist destinations during the current and coming week. Synoptic Situation: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a shallow westerly prevails over the western parts of Pakistan. It will start affecting the upper parts tonight. Continental air prevails over other parts of the country. Forecast: Under these weather conditions, rain with snowfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Naran, Kaghan, Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Murree and Galiyat on Friday, Monday and Tuesday, with occasional breaks. However, partly cloudy and freezing weather is likely in most tourist places on Saturday and Sunday. Mainly dry and freezing weather is expected in Ziarat and the surrounding areas from Saturday to Tuesday. However, light rain and light snowfall are likely on Friday. Temperatures: Murree’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between -02°C and 0°C on Friday and between -03°C and -01°C on Saturday. Past Weather: Meanwhile, freezing weather prevailed in Murree, Galiyat and other tourist destinations in the country during the last 24 hours. Astore remained the coldest place, where the temperature dropped 08°C below the freezing point. Minimum temperature in Kalam and Skardu was recorded at -05°C, in Malam Jabba at -04°C, in Hunza at -03°C, and in Gilgit, Dir, Rawlakot and Murree at -01°C.
