DUBAI – Trade, security, and longstanding strategic ties were at forefront as President Asif Ali Zardari met His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai. The landmark meeting held at Za’abeel Palace as Zardari called on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai who welcomed Pakistani leaders, signaling new era of strategic cooperation between the two nations. The meeting was attended by Dubai’s top leadership, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. The discussions delved into strengthening bilateral relations and expanding collaboration across multiple sectors to serve the shared interests of both countries. Regional and international issues were also at the forefront, with both sides reaffirming a united commitment to global stability, security, and sustainable development. Highlighting UAE’s dedication to deepening its partnership with Pakistan, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the historic bonds between the nations and the vision of fostering closer cooperation worldwide. President Zardari praised Sheikh Mohammed’s leadership in advancing bilateral ties and underscored the importance of joint economic and developmental initiatives. The high-profile gathering also included key Dubai figures such as Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and CEO of Emirates Airline; Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee; Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture; and Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, alongside other senior officials. Pakistan’s delegation featured First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party; Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari; Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi; Presidential Advisor Asim Hussain; Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan; and Brig. Sajid Akbar, military secretary to the President. The summit took place alongside Sheikh Mohammed’s wider engagement with business leaders and government officials, focusing on boosting the business climate, improving government efficiency, and advancing Dubai’s vision for a prosperous and sustainable future. Sheikh Mohammed also met with top graduates of Zayed II Military College and Dubai Police Academy, lauding their discipline, achievements, and potential.
