WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump has weighed in on Iran’s leadership succession, calling Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a potential frontrunner to succeed him, an “unlikely choice” for the country’s top position. In an interview with Reuters, Trump said: “We want to be involved in the process of choosing the person who is going to lead Iran into the future, so we don’t have to go back every five years and do this again and again. We want somebody that’s going to be great for the people, great for the country,” Trump said. He said the US must be involved in choosing the next leadership of Iran. He further stated that Trump expressed that it would be “great” if Kurdish groups operating from Iraq were to enter Iran and target Iranian security forces. US House Votes Down War Power Resolution The US House of Representatives has voted down a measure that would have required congressional approval for any military action against Iran, effectively allowing President Donald Trump to continue his air campaign. The resolution was rejected by a vote of 219 to 212, largely along party lines, with Republicans holding a slim majority in the House. Two Republicans supported the measure, while four Democrats opposed it. Critics of the proposal argued that Democrats were using the vote to score political points against Trump, potentially putting Americans at greater risk. Iran Launches Fresh Wave of Missiles on Tel Aviv Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported launching missiles toward Tel Aviv on Friday, according to Iran’s state news agency IRNA. IRNA cited the IRGC, stating that the attacks involved a combination of missiles and drones, aimed at strategic targets in central Tel Aviv. Furthermore, IRGC claimed that naval drones had targeted the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. On the other hand, the US Central Command said it struck an Iranian vessel, described as a “drone carrier”. “U.S. forces aren’t holding back on the mission to sink the entire Iranian Navy. Today, an Iranian drone carrier, roughly the size of a WWII aircraft carrier, was struck and is now on fire,” read
