Two people including child killed, over 20 killed in Bannu twin blasts

BANNU/ DI KHAN – At least two people, including a child, were killed and more than 20 others injured in twin blasts outside the main gate of Meryan Police Station in Bannu , the local authorities said on Monday. The blasts involved a vehicle loaded with explosives and an IED planted on a motorcycle. The police said that the terrorists rammed a bomb-laden rickshaw into the police station’s main gate. A motorcycle fitted with another IED, parked in front of nearby shops, also detonated. The presence of commercial establishments near the site caused civilians to be caught in the blasts. DIG Bannu Sajad Khan confirmed that police personnel were unharmed, but two civilians including a child, lost their lives. The injured were immediately transferred to nearby hospitals, where emergency services were activated. Following the explosions, police and other law enforcement agencies deployed in large numbers, cordoned off the area, and launched search operations. Authorities said investigations are ongoing and the perpetrators would be apprehended soon. In a separate incident at the Frontier Corps post in Manzai, Murtaza, a drone attack targeting a quadcopter triggered a firefight and explosions, killing two FC personnel and injuring five others. The deceased were identified as Lance Naik Basit and Sepoy Ismatullah, while the injured include Naib Subedar Zahid, Naik Mudassir, Sepoy Asghar, Havaldar Shahpur Khan, and Lance Naik Jan.
