UHS BoG elects Farkhanda Wasim Afzal as its chairperson

The newly constituted Board of Governors (BoG) of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Wednesday elected former senior bureaucrat Farkhanda Wasim Afzal as its chairperson. She will head the university’s seventh BoG. Ms Afzal retired in Grade 22 as Director General of the Civil Services Academy. She holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of the Punjab and a master’s in Management Sciences from the University of Cambridge. During her career, she served as secretary of the Services and Cooperatives departments in the Punjab government and also held office as the provincial ombudsperson. Board members congratulated her following her election and expressed confidence in her leadership. The meeting was attended by Justice (retd) Sheikh Ahmad Farooq, Ms Shahnaz Sardar, Prof Dr Saeed Shafqat and Capt (retd) Zahid Saeed. Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Vice Chancellor UHS, and Prof Dr Nadia Naseem, Pro Vice Chancellor, were also present. Representatives of the Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department and the Punjab Finance Department attended the meeting. Registrar Kiran Fatima and Treasurer Mujahid Iqbal were also in attendance. During the session, Prof Dr Nadia Naseem briefed the board on the university’s administrative and academic affairs.
