Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrives in Pakistan on two-day state visit

ISLAMABAD – Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Islamabad on his two-day state visit (February 5-6) to Pakistan at the inviration of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He is leading a high-level delegation, comprising senior Cabinet Ministers and business leaders. During his stay, the Uzbek President would meet the President, hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister, and address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum. Discussions will focus on reviewing the entire gamut of bilateral relations and identifying new avenues to further deepen cooperation in diverse sectors including trade, energy, defence, education, people-to-people exchange and regional connectivity. This is the second visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan which reflects the upward trajectory in Pak-Uzbek bilateral relations and the brotherly ties between the two brotherly countries, rooted in common history, faith and common aspirations for peace and prosperity in Central and South Asia. The trip comes after Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid a state visit to Pakistan from Feb 3 to 4. The state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Pakistan after 23 years was a historical milestone that elevates the traditional friendly relations between the two countries to the level of a Strategic Partnership and opens a new chapter of cooperation in bilateral relations between the two countries.
