LAHORE – The Met Office has forecasted that the weather will remain pleasant throughout the Basant Festival 2026 in Lahore, making it an ideal time for locals to celebrate the event. Chief Meteorologist Dr. Zaheer Babar, in an interview with a private TV channel, assured that the weather will be perfect over the three days of the festival, from February 6 to 8, 2026. He confirmed that there would be no rain during the Basant days, adding that the conditions would be perfect for kite flying and outdoor festivities. He said the weather will feature a mix of clouds and refreshing winds, with cooler temperatures at night. He also predicted a slight increase in daytime temperatures, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the festival. “The weather will allow the citizens to fully enjoy the spring celebration,” he said. Electricity Supply Update Meanwhile, the National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGCP) has issued instructions to ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity during the Basant celebrations. The NGCP’s Emergency Response teams will remain on standby and fully prepared throughout the festival. Engineer Rashid A. Bhutto, Deputy Managing Director of NGCP, confirmed that all technical staff, vehicles, and safety equipment will be readily available for quick response to any issues. The company has also promised close monitoring of transmission lines and grid stations in Lahore to address any potential technical problems in a timely manner. Engineer Altaf Hussain Malik, Managing Director of NGCP, urged the public to strictly follow safety protocols during Basant and to avoid any actions that might damage the power transmission system or grid stations.
