LAHORE – As the holy month of Ramadan has begun on 19 February 2026, Muslims across Pakistan are eagerly anticipating the dates for Eidul Fitr. The exact date of the festival, which marks the end of Ramadan, depends on the sighting of the moon. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold a meeting under chairmanship of Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad on evening of 19 March 2026 or 29th Ramadan to sight the moon. Eidul Fitr 2026 Expected Date in Pakistan If Ramadan lasts for 29 days, the first day of Shawal will fall on March 20, 2026 and the Eidul Fitr will be celebrated from March 20 to 22. However, if the holy month spans 30 days, Shawal will begin on March 21, 2026 with Eid celebrations continuing till March 23. Eidul Fitr 2026 Holidays The federal government has released the calendar for public holidays for the year 2026. According to the calendar, Eidul Fitr holidays have been scheduled for March 21, 22 and 23, (Saturday to Monday) subject to the sighting of the moon. If the Shawwal moon is sighted on March 19, Eid ul Fitr holidays in Pakistan are expected to be observed from March 20 to 22 (Friday to Sunday).
