World condemns deadly suicide bombing at Islamabad imambargah

ISLAMABAD – The international community has strongly condemned suicide bombing at an imambargah in Islamabad where 32 people have lost their lives with 169 others sustaining injuries. The United States, China, Russia, Canada, United Nation and others have sent condolences to Pakistan following the tragic incident. Among the dead was a first cousin of the Inspector General of Islamabad, the minister confirmed. Minister of State for Interior, Tallal Chaudhry, said rescue teams reached the scene within 12 minutes, and an emergency was immediately declared at major hospitals across the capital, including PIMS and Polyclinic. He added that the recent wave of terrorism in Pakistan has increasingly targeted soft targets such as mosques, imambargahs, and markets, often exploiting religious and ethnic fault lines.
