Moscow – Russia has warned that any attempt by US President Donald Trump to pursue regime change in Iran could trigger a third world war. Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council and former president Dmitry Medvedev made the remarks in an interview, stating that if President Trump does not abandon what he described as the “mad path” of attempting to change Iran’s government, it could inevitably lead to a global conflict. Medvedev said that while Iran may endure attacks by the United States and Israel, such actions have united the Iranian nation. He claimed that Tehran would intensify its efforts to acquire nuclear weapons in response. He further asserted that the conflict has placed American and Israeli citizens at greater risk, calling it a war driven by Washington and its allies to maintain global dominance. The former Russian president warned that any move toward regime change in Iran could serve as the starting point of a third world war, adding that even a single triggering incident could spark a broader nuclear confrontation. He also criticized European leaders, saying the United States is fully aware of the heavy cost of a nuclear conflict with Russia. Medvedev cautioned that if a nuclear confrontation were to occur, the devastation would surpass even the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, making them appear insignificant in comparison.
